November 29 Hey, everybody! I know you're all very busy trying to cure your turkey-induced indigestion with copious amounts of "special" eggnog...but if you have a second, check out IMPACT magazine. This fine periodical is devoted to action media in all its forms, and my favorite Englishman, John Mosby, is a regular contributor.
The latest issue takes a step forward with increased comics coverage, which I know will interest many of you here on Ye Olde Friends List. But don't take my word for it - Mr. Mosby can tell you more in the note below. And don't be daunted by the magazine's UK origin - you can get a copy of your own if you want it badly enough.
Impact #204 out in the UK today!
A note from Mr. Mosby himself:
Just a heads up. Before I was temporarily felled by my head problems (they've scientifically verified I have a brain now, so that's something), I'd persuaded the publishers of Impact to increase our comics coverage and produce an issue designed to get such attention. Due to my being ill and having to rearrange some pages, we've had to put the Thought Bubble coverage in the following issue, but the issue that hits the shelves today in the UK (#204) has exclusive interviews with Alan Moore, Dave Gibbons, Doug Jones, Beau Smith, Fluid Fiction/DevaShard, the latest anime releases as well as major coverage of eastern action such as Chocolate, The Good The Bad & The Weird and also James Bond, Quarantine, Transporter 3, Spooks and Ozploitation.
If enough people support this issue's comic coverage, we've some major interviews and articles planned for the immediate future. So, blatant plug over... you should be able to find this issue on the shelves of the bigger W H Smith, Borders etc in the UK and it's also orderable (nationally and internationally) from www.impactmoviemagazine.co.uk
Thanks to the Impact writers who stepped in and really helped finish off this issue and now it's over to you. If you want us to continue to the same extent of comic coverage, it's down to sales. Cheers. November 26 Writer Eric Trautmann (whose name is assaulted repeatedly in the intro to this interview) submits to a round of interrogation about his comic work. Of course, the most important question he answers is "what is it like to work with Brandon Jerwa?"
An Entertaining Grime: Eric Trautmen Interview
Eric Trautmen first caught my attention when he helped Greg Rucka with the last few arcs of his Checkmate series. Since then, Eric has gained a good deal of fanboy support for his work on DC's espionage title, and has certainly left me wanting to read more from him in the future.
In hopes of getting to ask Eric some questions before he skyrocketed to the highest heights of comic-creator fame, I shot him a few questions and he was kind enough to sit down and reply.
(Click here for the interview) November 19 Sometimes, you just need something adorable to make the bad things go away... Capucine
Once upon a time... from Capucha on Vimeo.
"A breathtaking story by Capucine. Starring baby monkeys lost in frightening trees, a witch, crocodiles, a tiger, a 'popotamus' and a lion, and even a 'tremendously very bad mammoth'. There are also magic powers and an orange ring, but sometimes, 'something goes amiss'." Ghosts #2 continues as the Ghost Squadron, a black-ops Viper team and the freelance salvage team from the Orion come to grips with the new realities of their situation, and a Cylon dominated galaxy!

Serrano (Brandon needed some extra help on this one, don't ask, but Elliott's doing a great job, really!) and Miguel Montenegro are giving it to you! October 01 This interview ran back in July, but it's an excellent primer for my new 4-issue mini-series, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: GHOSTS. The first issue drops very soon (next week, I think) and I hope you'll check it out. This is the first Galactica project from Dynamite to feature an all-new cast of lead characters, so I'm very curious to see how it's received...
Newsarama.com : BRANDON JERWA ON BSG: GHOSTS
For Battlestar Galactica fans, we’re in the middle of a long, dry stretch.
The final 10 episodes are slated to begin showing sometime in early 2009, but until then...not much.
Unless you count the comics.
Dynamite’s Battlestar Galactica projects have explored the cracks and crevasses of the world Ron Moore made, and in September, Brandon Jerwa expands the world even more in Battlestar Galactica: Ghosts, a four issue miniseries about a black ops Viper squadron now on their own.
We spoke with Jerwa about the miniseries.
Newsarama: First off Brandon, when is Ghosts set in relation to the larger Battlestar Galactica timeline?
Brandon Jerwa: Ghosts takes place pretty much right beside the first TV mini-series and moves forward from there. That’s really a flashpoint for the whole Galactica epic, so I thought it seemed the most logical place to start. The Dynamite books have covered a few different eras, so this is sort of bringing it back home, as it were, for everyone who was sucked into this fantastic world on that first night (like me)!

September 26 Eric Trautmann (writer of Checkmate, Final Crisis: Resist, Perfect Dark Zero and my frequent collaborator) and I will be road-trippin' up to Bellingham to appear at Bell-Con this Saturday! Why don't you make an appearance as well? September 24 Eric Trautmann and I capped off yesterday's festival of mutually assured destruction with a podcast interview for Johnny Gigawatt and the Tiger Men from Mars. It was quite a bit of fun, and the whole thing goes off the rails more than once. Eric and I hint at the Big Project, talk about "Wide Awake" and weigh in on a variety of subjects. Check it out!
In other news, Eric will be joining me in Bellingham this Saturday for Bell-Con. Your presence is required. Johnny Gigawatt - A Comic Book Netcast — Comic news and reviews by the Tiger Men from Mars

A few months back, the Tiger Men interviewed comic writer Eric Trautmann. Tonight, we do it again! This time with comic cohort and co-author of the Popgun vol 2 story “Wide Awake,” Brandon Jerwa September 18 Byrne and Eno, together again and making electro-acoustic gospel dream pop. Available exclusively at the link I've shared, you can choose multiple options; my personal pick was the immediate digital download followed by a physical CD in November.
I have a feeling I'll be listening to this one for years to come.
David Byrne & Brian Eno - Everything That Happens Will Happen Today
"Brian Eno and I recently finished our first collaboration in about 30 years. The name of the new record is Everything That Happens Will Happen Today. For the most part, Brian did the music and I wrote some tunes, words and sang. It's familiar but completely new as well. We're pretty excited." This is my Music of the Moment: Byrne and Eno, together again and making electro-acoustic gospel dream pop. Available exclusively at the link I've shared, you can choose multiple options; my personal pick was the immediate digital download followed by a physical CD in November.
